1000 Nails/1000 Cords

Summer Workshop in collaboration with the Vitra Design Museum.
13. - 19. May 2007
Nails are the oldest known assembling elements, they survived the industrialization and they are still alive in the age of bytes and bits.
Based on this story of success, the subject of connecting materials, functions and forms will be tackled. Where components meet, materials get into a dialogue, tensions arise, functions and forces will be leaded and not least, the object gets its particular appearance.
This kind of difficulties of each design process will be explored by means of this archetype of assembly and the conclusions will be put into practice.
